In Oblivion, everything has a quest marker which makes mundane quests feel even more mundane. It's really great to have to read directions, figure out where you are, and not have every single thing in the world marked out for you. To me, this makes the game much more immersive. Rather than having to pay a voice actor to read lines, the devs can just type everything out and make you read. We can all read and it lends itself to being able to offer more detail for each quest. It's a ton of fun if you really want to break the game.Ī few things Morrowind has that were cut in Oblivion/Skyrim which, ultimately, help the game more than it hurts it:ġ. I've made potions that increase my speed/fatigue/health into the millions. This is even shown in the game with something like the the Scroll of Icarian Flight, which is given to the player just a few minutes after starting. It feels like you can do almost anything and the game will let you. Over 70 million and make potions that last for 900 real hours. It only took me about a half hour to create a potion that fortified my intelligence to One of my favorite things in Morrowind is that there are a lot of things that are kinda broken/janky. The game in general is much more palatable than something like Daggerfall (though I'm sure playing the Daggerfall unity version makes it more accessable). There are a few things to get used to if you're used to Oblivion/Skyrim, but none are so bad as to be an inconvenience. It's the last elder scrolls game that really emphasized player autonomy and created a world that feels so easy to live in. I really don't know what more can be said about this game, it's a masterpiece.
